Wright III Named SIAC Player of the Year, Eight Players Earn SIAC Football Postseason Honors

David Wright III earns back-to-back SIAC Postseason superlatives

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced their 2024 Football Postseason Honors. Eight Panthers were selected for postseason accolades, including David Wright III earning SIAC Most Valuable Player.

FIRST TEAM

Wide receiver Armone Harris earned First Team honors along with offensive lineman Austin Euler, quarterback David Wright III, and cornerback Dahlil Wilkins

David Wright III was an absolute aerial acrobat this season as he led the league in passing yards with 2,915 and 28 touchdowns through the air. Wright opened the season with a seven-touchdown, 423-yard performance in a win over SIAC powerhouse Fort Valley State. He averaged 291 yards per game while registering a touchdown in every game and finishing with a passer rating of 149.79.

Armone Harris is currently tied for third in Division II in receiving touchdowns with 14, which leads the SIAC. The Tampa native tallied 858 receiving yards and found pay dirt in 9-of-10 games this season. Harris even threw for a touchdown in a win over Bethune-Cookman.

Austin Euler started all 10 games for a stout Clark Atlanta offensive line that helped the Panthers to their best record in recent history.

Dahlil Wilkins led the Clark Atlanta secondary with four interceptions. The graduate transfer from Allen University accrued 34 total tackles (29 solo, 5 assisted). His 29 solo tackles led the Panthers while also swatting seven pass deflections.

SECOND TEAM

Offensive lineman Denzell Moore, defensive lineman Kurtis Waye, and freshman kicker Leonardo Cabrera earned SIAC Second Team Honors.

Denzell Moore started all 10 games for the Panthers offensive line.

Defensive lineman Kurtis Waye put the league on notice in his sophomore campaign with a team-high nine tackles for loss and three sacks. Waye also ranked fifth on the team in total tackles, with 33 in the season.

Freshman kicker Leonardo Cabrera nabbed Second Team honors after going 9-for-11 on field goal attempts this season, including a career-long 55-yard field goal that powered the Panthers past Bethune-Cookman back in September.

The Panthers look to earn their biggest award, though, as they compete for their first outright SIAC title since 1978 tomorrow against the Miles College Golden Bears. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. central time. Fans can catch the action live on
