Fuller Drops 23 Points to Push Clark Atlanta Past Central State 69-67

Panthers get back in the win column

WILBERFORCE, Ohio -- Shemani Fuller scored a team-high 23 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds as the Clark Atlanta Panthers edged Central State 69-67 on Thursday night. Three Panthers scored in double figures, including Jalen Williams with 14 points and Dez'Mond Perkins with 10 points in the win.

Thursday's win improves Clark Atlanta to 8-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play.

Fuller was a force to be reckoned with in the first half, scoring nine of his 23 points to give the Panthers a 34-32 edge over the Marauders headed into the intermission. Clark Atlanta shot 46.8% from the field compared to Central State's 38.2% in the first half.

The Marauders opened the second half with a 6-2 run to take a 38-36 lead at the 18:21 mark. However, that lead didn't last long as Fuller and Perkins chipped in two quick scores to knot the score at 40-all just two minutes later. With 16:18 left to play in regulation, Andrew Stewart knocked down a jumper on an assist from his brother Elijah Stewart to regain the lead at 42-40

The Panthers were able to retain the lead for the remainder of Thursday's game as they held off the Marauders 69-67 to get back in the win column. It's only fitting that the 69th point came on a Shemani Fuller dunk to put CSU away. Clark Atlanta shot 49.1% from the field and 62.5% from the free throw line in the win.

Clark Atlanta registered a 38-33 rebounding edge over Central State while also outscoring CSU 44-30 in the paint. The Panthers also got a much needed push from the bench as they outscored the Marauders reserves 22-8 on the way to the win.
