Lady Panthers Fall on the Road at Savannah State

Evans and Garner score 13 apiece

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Clark Atlanta women's basketball team (8-8, 5-6 SIAC) fell short to the Savannah State Tigers (11-3, 8-2 SIAC) by a narrow 56-55 margin on Monday afternoon inside Tiger Arena. 

Corianna Evans and Atreonia Garner led the scoring charge for Clark Atlanta with 13 points apiece on the night. Despite the loss, this game marks Garner's seventh straight contest scoring in double figures. 

Clark Atlanta got the ball rolling early in Monday's contest after jumping out to a 9-6 lead. However, Savannah State responded with an 8-2 run to take a 14-11 lead into the second frame. The Lady Panthers were held to just six points in the second quarter and found themselves down 29-17 heading into intermission. 

The Tigers lead swelled to as much as 17 points with 4:46 left to play in the third frame, but the Lady Panthers stormed back with an 18-4 run to close the margin to 3 points (47-44) at the end of the third. Corianna Evans put in a score to give Clark Atlanta the lead (48-47) with 9:15 left to play in regulation. Both clubs traded scores evenly until a made jumper from Savannah State proved to be the final blow as they downed Clark Atlanta 56-55.
