Volleyball Downs Central State and Kentucky State at SIAC Tri-Match

Lady Panthers Improve to 10-6 on the Season

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta women's volleyball team continues to excel in conference play after taking down Kentucky State 3-1, followed by a 3-0 win over Central State on Saturday at the SIAC Tri-Match hosted by Fort Valley State.

With the two wins, Clark Atlanta improves to 10-6 overall and 7-2 in SIAC play. 

GAME ONE VS. KENTUCKY STATE

Clark Atlanta dropped the first set 26-24 but responded by holding the Thorobreds below 13 in the remaining three sets to escape with a 3-1 over Kentucky State.

Makayla Murphy (Detroit, Mich.) led the Lady Panthers in kills with 15, sporting an attack percentage of .524 to push CAU to the win. Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) followed up with 13 kills of her own to stretch her double-digit kill streak to six games, while also logging 14 digs to match.

Allanah Drayton-Campbell (Duncanville, Texas) set a game-high 23 assists to lead all setters in game one. Sanaa Simmons (Tallahassee, Fla.) also posted 18 assists in the win for CAU. 

"I want the team to realize being consistent and intentional are the things needed to be winners," said Head Coach Joelle Mafo after the match.

GAME TWO VS. CENTRAL STATE

Clark Atlanta posted their fourth sweep of the season after downing Central State 3-0 in the second match of Saturday's Tri-Match. McGee logged her seventh-straight match with double-digit kills with 11 in the win and an attack percentage of .429.

Drayton-Campbell recorded a team-high in assists (15) and digs (8) to help the Lady Panthers secure the win.

"We are improving on our team cohesion and consistency as a team." said Head Coach Joelle Mafo, "We are aware of what needs to be done day in and day out."

Clark Atlanta returns to action as they head to Albany, Georgia to take on the Golden Rams of Albany State at 6 p.m. inside the HPER Complex.
