Strong First Half Not Enough as Panthers Fall to Lane College

Kincey Continues Strong Offensive Run

ATLANTA, Ga. — Daquon Kincey (Abbeville, Ala.) logged his second 100-yard game of the season but the Panthers fell to the Lane College Dragons 34-24 on Saturday inside Panther Stadium. With the loss, Clark Atlanta drops to 0-5 on the season for the first time since 2019.

Heath Williams Jr. (Clarksville, Tenn.) led the offensive charge for the Panthers with a 50-percent (9-18) completion rate, 149 yards, and a touchdown on the day.

The Dragons struck first in Saturday's matchup on a 14-yard rush with 11:45 left to play in the first quarter. Clark Atlanta started the second quarter with a nine-play, 55-yard drive capped off by a 45-yard field goal from Fernando Lobo (Jonesboro, Ga.) to put the Panthers on the board.

Lane was able to stretch their lead to 13-3 at the 8:40 mark in the second frame. Exactly three minutes later, Daquon Kincey found the endzone for the seventh time this season on a 10-yard scamper to bring the Panther within three with five minutes left in the half. The Dragons responded with an 11-yard touchdown pass to extend their advantage back to 10 just before the two-minute warning.

With 1:28 left in the first half, Heath Williams Jr. threw a 30-yard strike to Jaelin Hood (Brooklyn, N.Y.) to cut the deficit back to three headed into the intermission.

Lane College capitalized on a blocked punt that set them up in the red zone at the CAU 15-yard line, followed by a 15-yard rushing touchdown on the next play to push their advantage to 27-17 just two minutes into the second half.

Lane found the endzone once against at the 10:00 mark to extend the lead to 17 points.

Clark Atlanta strung together a 10-play, 65-yard drive, capped off by a three-yard Kincey rush to bring the Panthers within 10 with just under two minutes left in the third quarter.

Both teams held each other scoreless in the fourth quarter, but it was Lane who outlasted Clark Atlanta 34-24 to close out Saturday's conference clash at Panther Stadium.

Daquon Kincey registered 104 yards on 19 attempts, two touchdowns, and three catches on the day. Jaelin Hood had a season-high three receptions for 86 yards and a score for the Panthers.

Camron Ivey (Atlanta, Ga.) posted a team-high 10 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball for CAU.
