Volleyball Splits a Pair Of Non-Conference Matches in Tuesday Doubleheader

Lady Panthers Fall to GCSU, Bounced Back Against Talladega

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Clark Atlanta women's volleyball team improved to 8-6 (5-2 SIAC) on the season after splitting Tuesday (Sept. 26) night's doubleheader against Georgia College & State (GCSU) and Talladega College (TC). The Lady Panthers dropped the opening match to GCSU 3-0 but followed it up by avenging their Sept. 14 loss to TC by defeating the Tornadoes 3-2 to close out the night inside Epps Gymnasium.

GAME ONE VS. GCSU

In the first match of Tuesday's doubleheader, the Lady Panthers fell short to GCSU 3-0. Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) led all players with a game-high 14 kills to garner her fourth straight match with double-digit kills. The Atlanta native also registered a season-high .522 attack percentage.

Allanah Drayton-Campbell (Duncanville, Texas) set a team-high 13 assists with fellow setter Sanaa Simmons (Tallahassee, Fla.) right behind her with 12 on the night.

GAME TWO VS. TALLADEGA

Clark Atlanta avenged their loss against Talladega on Sept. 14 by taking down the Lady Tornadoes 3-2 inside Epps Gymnasium.

Shynique McGee led the offensive charge as she logged her fifth-straight double-digit kill match with a team-high 16 on the way to the win. Halle Mitchell (Denton, Texas) also spiked 10 kills on the night to contribute to the success.

Sanaa Simmons led the Lady Panthers in setter play with 26 assists in the win.

Madison Spells (Dickinson, Texas) put together a great defensive showing as she rejected a season-high five solo blocks with seven kills to cap off her night.
