Lady Panthers Volleyball Finishes SIAC Crossover with 4-1 Record

Volleyball Improves to 7-5 Overall

ALBANY, Ga. – After a much needed week off, the Clark Atlanta women's volleyball team finished the SIAC Crossover Volleyball tournament with a 4-1 record after five matches. Clark Atlanta started the tournament with a 3-1 win over Miles College, followed by a 3-0 loss to Spring Hill. The Lady Panthers were able to bounce back as they finished the weekend with a sweep over LeMoyne-Owen, a 3-1 win over Lane College, and a deciding set win over Tuskegee 3-2.

GAME 1 vs Miles College

The Lady Panthers started the crossover tournament with another conference win, taking down Miles College 3-1. In the victory, three Lady Panthers registered double-digit kills, led by Madison Spells (Dickinson, Texas) with 11 kills with an attack percentage of .292. Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) and Dahlia Williams (Fairburn, Ga.) each logged 10 kills to open the tournament.

McGee registered a double-double performance with 11 digs and 10 kills.

GAME 2 vs Spring Hill

Spring Hill handed Clark Atlanta their second conference loss of the season, sweeping the Lady Panthers 3-0 in the second game of the crossover. 

Sanaa Simmons (Tallahassee, Fla.) set a team-high nine assists for the Lady Panthers in the loss. 

GAME 3 vs LeMoyne-Owen

Clark Atlanta was able to bounce back with a sweep of their own, downing LeMoyne-Owen 3-0 in the third game of the tournament. Makyla Murphy (Matteson, Ill.) registered a season-high 15 kills with an attack percentage of .750 to lead the Lady Panthers to victory. Shynique McGee logged her second double-double performance of the tournament, netting 12 kills and 11 digs.

Allanah Drayton-Campbell posted her third match of the season with over 20 assists as she recorded 25 assists in the win against LeMoyne-Owen.

GAME 4 vs Lane College 

The Lady Panthers continued their success in conference play after taking down Lane College 3-1 in game four of the crossover.

McGee had another double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs to hoist her team to the win. Halle Mitchell (Denton, Texas) registered double-digit kills with 10 in the match. Drayton-Campbell continues to excel at the setter position after logging 14 assists in game four.

Dahlia Williams rejected four block solos on the defensive end. 

GAME 5 vs Tuskegee

Clark Atlanta was able to end the weekend with a 3-2 win over conference rival Tuskegee, led by Shynique McGee once again with 15 kills and six service aces for the Lady Panthers. Nakayla James led CAU in digs with 21 in the libero spot. Drayton-Campbell handed out 23 helpers, followed by Simmons with 20 of her own.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Clark Atlanta women's volleyball returns home for a doubleheader on Tuesday, September 26, as they host Georgia College & State University at 4 p.m. followed by a matchup with Talladega College at 6 p.m. inside Epps Gymnasium.
