Panther Drop to 0-3 on the Season

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Daquon Kincey (Abbeville, Ala.) logged his third-straight game with two touchdowns for the Panthers but Clark Atlanta fell to 0-3 on the season after losing to Savannah State 28-21 on Saturday (Sept. 16) inside Theodore A. Wright Stadium. Despite the loss, Kincey logged 138 total yards on 18 rushing attempts and three receptions.

Andrew Banks (Atlanta, Ga.) got the start under center for CAU. The Atlanta, Ga. native went 10-for-16 with 134 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

The Panthers fell behind 14-0 early in Saturday night's conference matchup with the Tigers. Undeterred, Clark Atlanta marched down the field to put together an 11-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended in Daquon Kincey rushing for his fifth touchdown of the season to put the Panthers on the board (14-7) at the 2:17 mark in the first quarter.

Clark Atlanta was able to even the score at 14 apiece after capping off a 7-play 64-yard scoring drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Jaelin Hood (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 11:39 left to play in the half.

Savannah State recovered a muffed punt in CAU's endzone to regain the lead at 20-14 at the 7:47 mark in the second frame.

Andrew Banks tossed his second touchdown of the night with 2:57 left in the half to Daquon Kincey who found the endzone on a screen from 29 yards out to capture CAU's first lead of the season at 21-20.

Despite leading at the half, Savannah State's touchdown in the third quarter was enough to hold off Clark Atlanta as they downed the Panther 28-20 on their home field.

Clark Atlanta logged 268 yards of total offense with an identical 134 yards in passing and rushing. The Panthers won the time-of-possession battle over the Tigers with just under 34 minutes of possession compared to SSU's 26 minutes. Clark Atlanta also went a perfect 3-for-3 in the redzone.

On the defensive end, defensive lineman Jerome Wallace (Miami, Fla.) led the Panthers in total tackles with nine (four solo, nine assisted) in the loss. Senior safety Timothy Jones (Douglasville, Ga.) registered six solo tackles for CAU on the night.
