DUE WEST, S.C. (SEPTEMBER 1, 2023) – The Clark Atlanta University womens volleyball team traveled to Due West, South Carolina for the annual Erskine College Invitational on Friday (Sept. 1), The Lady Panthers dropped the opening match to Lincoln Memorial 3-0, but still have two matches remaining tomorrow against Tusculum University at 12:30 p.m. and Erskine College at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Panthers held an 8-7 lead early in set one before the Railsplitters used a 5-0 scoring run to take a 12-8 lead. CAU was able to climb back within seven (23-16) but LMU took set one 25-18.

The Railsplitters secured set two with a 25-13 win over the Lady Panthers. Lincoln Memorial secured the 3-0 sweep after taking set three 25-15.

Junior Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) led CAU in kills with six followed by junior Miara Bolden (Homewood, Ill.) with five and freshman Dahlia Williams (Fairburn, Ga.) with four total. Bolden also had a team-high two aces in the loss. Williams registered a team-high three blocks while sophomore Sanaa Simmons dished out a team-high eight helpers and four digs.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The Lady Panthers volleyball team returns to action tomorrow as they take on Tusculum University at 12:30 p.m. and Erskine College at 5:30 p.m. to conclude the Erskine College Invitational. Panther fans can follow the action via live stream and/or live stats.
