CAU Tennis Set to Enter SIAC Tournament as No. 1 Overall Seed

ATLANTA, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta University women's tennis team is set to compete in the 2023 SIAC Conference Tournament this weekend (Apr. 15-16) at the Peachtree Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Georgia. The Lady Panthers enter the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed after boasting a 15-4 overall record and a 13-1 record in conference play this season. The Lady Panthers have shown great success under first-year head coach Roderick Slack this season.

The Lady Panthers started their conference tear by going 3-0 in the first SIAC Mini Round-Up in Savannah, Georgia. Clark Atlanta picked up wins over Tuskegee, Fort Valley, and Savannah State to start conference play. 

During the following week, CAU tennis headed to the SIAC Round-Up #1 in Mobile, Alabama. The Lady Panthers proved to be dominant once again as they went 5-0 during the event. CAU recorded wins against Lane College, Savannah State, Albany State, Benedict, and Spring Hill to wrap up the weekend.

In the final SIAC Round-Up of the season, the Lady Panthers went 5-1 after starting the tournament 5-0. CAU logged wins against Fort Valley, Albany State, Lane College, Benedict, and Spring Hill before suffering their first conference loss of the season to Tuskegee to finish the event.

Clark Atlanta women's tennis is slated to take on No. 4 seed Benedict in the first round of the SIAC Conference Tournament this weekend. The full tournament bracket can be found here. Match one is set to start at 4 p.m.
