ATLANTA, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers landed two players in double figures but the Miles College Golden Bears escaped Epps Gymnasium with a narrow 55-52 win on Thursday evening. Denise Stine led the way for Clark Atlanta in scoring with a team-high 17 points on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Miles jumped out to an early 8-2 lead with five minutes gone off the clock in the first quarter.
• Clark Atlanta closed out the first frame on an 11-5 run to head into the second quarter with a 13-11 deficit.
• Denise Stine drained a pair of threes to open the second quarter to push CAU to a 17-13 lead at the 9:07 mark.
• Corriana Evans and Rose Smith scored four points apiece in the second quarter to outscore Miles 16-11 and sent Clark into the locker room with a 27-24 advantage.
• Miles College opened the third frame on a 15-6 run to take a commanding 39-33 lead with 4:10 left until the fourth quarter.
• The Lady Panthers headed into the fourth quarter facing a 41-38 deficit.
• Hannah White and Denise Stine combined for four quick points to regain the lead 42-41 with 9:05 left to play in regulation.
• CAU held the advantage for most of the final quarter as they found themselves ahead 48-47 with four minutes left to play.
• Miles answered back with five straight points to take a 52-48 lead at the 3:44 mark.
• Both teams scored 14 points in the final frame but Clark Atlanta fell short 55-52 to Miles College.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

• Corriana Evans picked up her ninth double-double of the season as she scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to match. Evans added 3 blocks and four steals on the defensive end as well.
• Denise Stine led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 17 points and two rebounds on the night.
• Stine and Trinity Jones each handed out three helpers apiece to lead CAU.
• Clark Atlanta won the battle in the paint 24-22.
• The Lady Panthers scored 18 points off of turnovers and recorded 11 points from the reserves.
