Stine's Game-High 17 Points Powers CAU Past LeMoyne Owen

ATLANTA, Ga. | Denise Stine dropped a game-high 17 points to power the Clark Atlanta women's basketball team to a 59-51 home victory over the LeMoyne Owen Magicians on Wednesday evening. The Lady Panthers also landed three other players in double-figure scoring on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Deyanna McKinney opened the game with a drained three to give CAU an early 3-0 lead.
  • Five Lady Panthers scored in the first quarter to push Clark Atlanta in front 12-8 heading into the second frame.
  • Denise Stine scored four points in the second quarter but the Lady Panthers fell behind 24-20 going into the intermission.
  • Trinity Jones and Denise Stine combined for five points to start the third quarter and cut the deficit to 26-25 at the 8:24 mark.
  • CAU finished the quarter on a 13-11 run to head into the fourth quarter with a 38-37 advantage.
  • The Lady Magicians scored five quick points to jump back in front 42-38 with 8:35 left to play.
  • Corriana Evans scored CAU's first four points of the fourth quarter to knot the score at 42-42.
  • Clark Atlanta outscored LeMoyne-Owen 21-14 in the final frame to outlast the Lady Magicians 59-51.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Lady Panthers placed three players in double figures with Denise Stine leading the charge with a game-high 17 points and two rebounds on the night.
  • Corriana Evans finished with 15 points and a team-high five rebounds to lead CAU on the boards.
  • Trinity Jones rounds out the Lady Panthers in double figures with her 12-point, three-rebound performance.
  • Stine also logged a game-high five steals on the defensive end. 
  • Clark Atlanta shot an efficient 41.2 percent from the field, 40 percent from three, and 57 percent from the foul line.
  • CAU outscored LeMoyne-Owen in the paint 30-22.
  • Wednesday's game saw 10 lead changes.
