SAVANNAH, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta men's basketball team placed three players in double figures but fell short to the Savannah State Tigers 54-47 on Saturday afternoon inside Tiger Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Jalen Williams put the Panthers on the board first after scoring the team's first five points to put CAU in front 5-0 less than two minutes into the contest.
• SSU responded with a 6-0 run to take a 6-5 lead at the 16:06 mark in the first half.
• Demetrius Headspeth knocked down a jumper followed by a free throw from Horace Wyatt III and Jalen Williams to put CAU back in front 9-6.
• Both teams traded baskets until they found themselves knotted at 14 apiece with 3:26 left to play until halftime.
• SSU used a 10-6 run to close out the first half with a 24-20 lead over Clark Atlanta.
• Jalen Williams knocked down a jumper to cut the deficit back to four points (26-22) after two SSU free throws to open the second half. 
• Gwarren Douglas scored four straight points followed by a three-pointer from Dez'Mond Perkins to keep CAU within four (33-29) with 12:18 to play in regulation.
• SSU sank a free throw but Jalen Williams knocked down a three to get CAU within two, 34-32.
• With six minutes left to play, the Tigers held a 42-41 advantage over the Panthers.
• SSU used a 12-6 run to close out the game and escape with a 54-47 win over CAU.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 

• The Panthers placed three in double figures led by Dez'Mond Perkins and Jalen Williams with 13 points apiece.
• Perkins notched a double-double performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds on the day.
• Gwarren Douglas rounds out the third Panther in double figures with his 11-point performance with five rebounds and two blocks to add to his stat line.
• Kye Jeremiah and Jalen Williams each had two assists apiece.
• Jeremiah also led the team in steals with a team-high two.
• Clark Atlanta outscored Savannah State in the paint 20-8. 
• As a team, the Panthers shot 37.5 percent from the field, 23.1 percent from downtown, and 66.7 percent from the foul line.
• The Panthers outrebounded the Tigers 40-32.
