Lady Panthers Drop Fifth-Straight Game as they Fall to Tuskegee

Lady Panthers fall to 3-5 on the season

TUSKEGEE, Ala. -- The Clark Atlanta women's basketball team dropped its fifth contest in a row on Monday night as they fell to the Tuskegee Univesity Golden Tigers 56-55 inside the James Center Arena.

Freshman Atreonia Garner led the Lady Panthers in scoring for the second-straight game as she went for a team-high 10 points while grabbing six rebounds on the night. Corriana Evans led the team in rebounds with a game-high 10 boards and eight points.

Trinity Jones got the Lady Panthers started with a pair of free throws followed by a pair of made jumpers from Atreonia Garner and Brooklyn McKinley. However, those would be the only points CAU scored in the first quarter as Tuskegee mounted a 12-6 lead heading into the second frame.

Unphased, Clark Atlanta put together a 14-3 run to open the second quarter capped off by a made free throw by Corianna Evans to give the Lady Panthers a 20-15 advantage with 4:46 left to play until the half. Both teams traded scores until Brooklyn McKinley knocked down a three-pointer to close out the half, sending Clark Atlanta into the intermission with a one-point lead (27-26).

Atreonia Garner and Trinity Jones combined for eight of Clark Atlanta's 15 points to help the Lady Panthers outscore Tuskegee 15-13 in the third frame, giving CAU a 42-39 advantage going into the final quarter.

The Lady Panthers held the lead for a majority of the final frame before Tuskegee knotted the score at 50 apiece with a made free throw at the 2:44 mark. With a minute left to play, Kaia Barnett dropped in a score for CAU to put the Lady Panthers in front 55-52. Tuskegee went on to score four unanswered points in the final minute to down Clark Atlanta 56-55 in Tuskegee, Alabama.
