Evans Notches Second Double-Double This Season, Lady Panthers Fall to Lane College in Overtime

ATLANTA, Ga. – Corianna Evans notched her second double-double of the season with her 15-point, 12-rebound performance, but the Lady Panthers (3-6, 0-3 SIAC) fell short to Lane College 54-49 in overtime on Saturday afternoon inside Epps Gymnasium. With the loss, Clark Atlanta falls to 3-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Despite the loss, Corianna Evans led all scorers with game-highs in scoring (15) and rebounding (12) to secure her second double-double of the season. Evans was also a presence on the defensive end with a game-high Janiah Ellis rounds out the Lady Panthers in double figures with 11 points on the day.

Saturday's matchup started off a bit slow on the offensive end with Lane College sporting a 7-6 lead over Clark Atlanta at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Panthers opened the second frame with four quick points from Atreonia Garner to put CAU ahead 10-7 with 7:50 left to play until halftime. 

Janiah Ellis knocked down a three-pointer at the 2:51 mark, but Lane responded with a pair of free throws to head into the intermission with a 19-15 advantage. 

Corianna Evans scored seven of her 15 points in the third quarter to close the gap, however, Lane ended the third frame with a 35-28 lead over Clark. The Lady Panthers put together a 9-0 run to open the fourth quarter, putting them in front 37-35 with 7:56 left to play in regulation.

Hannah White was able to sink a free throw with 49 seconds left to give CAU a two-point lead (46-44). Lane responded with a made layup at the 26-second mark to force overtime. 

The Dragons outscored Clark Atlanta 8-3 in overtime to escape with a 54-49 road win over the Lady Panthers.
