JONESBORO, Ga. – Fresh off of their first 20-win season since 2012, Clark Atlanta women's volleyball opened the 2023 SIAC Volleyball Tournament with a sweep against Miles College to advance to tomorrow's (Nov. 10) semifinal game versus Edward Waters.

The Lady Panthers logged three players with double-figure kills, led by Shynique McGee with 12 followed by Halle Mitchell with 11 and Madison Spells with 10 in the win.

Clark Atlanta set the tone early by taking a 6-2 lead capped off by a kill from McGee. Miles College responded with a 7-0 scoring run to jump in front 9-6. Undeterred, CAU stormed back with an 8-0 run to regain the lead 15-9. The Lady Panthers outscored the Golden Bears 10-3 to close out set one with a 25-12 win.

Halle Mitchell and Shynique McGee combined for nine kills in set two to put Miles College away 25-17, giving CAU a 2-0 lead in the match. CAU jumped in front 5-2 early in set three before Miles tied the score at 5-all. Both teams traded points until Clark Atlanta held a narrow 20-19 late in set three. Miara Bolden put the Golden Bears away with a service ace to secure the sweep over Miles College.

With the win, Clark Atlanta advances to play Edward Waters tomorrow at 1 p.m. inside Tsunami Volleyball in Jonesboro, Georgia.
