Lady Panthers Open the Season 2-0 with Wins over Florida Tech and Saint Leo

Clark Atlanta finds success at SSC/SIAC Crossover in Tampa

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The reigning SIAC East Division Champion Clark Atlanta women's basketball team opened the 2023-24 season with a pair of non-conference wins over Florida Tech (57-48) and Saint Leo University (76-75) as a part of the SSC/SIAC Crossover hosted the Saint Leo University (Nov. 10-11).

GAME ONE

Clark Atlanta opened the crossover with a 57-48 win over Florida Tech after being led in scoring by Corriana Evans with 13 points to push her double-digit scoring streak to nine games dating back to last season. Hannah White also added 10 points and four rebounds in the win.

Trinity Jones led CAU in assists with three to add to her seven points and four rebounds.

The Lady Panthers went into halftime facing a 21-14 margin before using a strong shooting third quarter to outscore Florida Tech 43-27 in the second half. Clark Atlanta shot a team-high 50% (7-14) from the floor and 66% (2-3) from behind the arc. 

GAME TWO

In game two of the SSC/SIAC Crossover, three Lady Panthers scored in double figures to escape with a narrow 76-75 win over the Lady Lions of Saint Leo. Corriana Evans led the scoring charge for CAU with a game-high 21 points, seven rebounds, and five steals in the win. 

Hannah White chipped in 17 points followed by Janiah Ellis with 13 points to round out the Lady Panthers in double-figure scoring. 

Clark Atlanta outscored Saint Leo 22-14 in the paint and scored 31 points off turnovers to edge the Lady Lions in Saturday afternoon's matchup. 

UP NEXT

Clark Atlanta women's basketball opens their home slate on Friday (Nov. 10) as they host the CIAA/SIAC Challenge at Epps Gymnasium. The Lady Panthers play host to Johnson C. Smith University at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 10 followed by a matchup against Elizabeth City State at 4 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 18).
