Volleyball Gets Back in the Win Column Against Brewton-Parker

McGee continues dominant offensive season

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Junior outside hitter Shynique McGee (Atlanta, Ga.) registered her third-straight match with 22 or more kills to power the Clark Atlanta University women's volleyball team past the Brewton-Parker Barons 3-1 on Tuesday evening inside Gillis Gymnasium. 

McGee led the offensive effort with 22 kills for an attacking percentage of .441 in the win. Junior setter Allanah Drayton-Campbell (Duncanville, Texas) led CAU setters with a team-high 28 assists.

Brewton-Parker secured a 24-26 win in set one to take a 1-0 advantage over Clark Atlanta. The Lady Panthers responded with a 25-21 win in set two to even the match score at one apiece. 

Clark Atlanta took control in most of set three after going up 18-9 midway through the third frame. Drayton-Campbell spiked a kill to close out set three with a 25-19 victory to put CAU ahead 2-1. 

A pair of kills from Dahlia Williams (Fairburn, Ga.) and Shynique McGee gave Clark Atlanta a 20-14 lead in set four. Junior right-side hitter Jaelyn Williams (Houston, Texas) sealed the 25-20 win in set four with a kill to escape with the road victory 3-1.

Freshman libero Nakayla James (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) led the defensive effort with a team-high 10 digs in the win. Dahlia Williams rejected six blocks to add to the defensive charge for Clark Atlanta.

Clark Atlanta women's volleyball gets a well deserved week off before heading to Savannah State on Friday, October 27, to continue conference play against the Lady Tigers. First serve is set for 6 p.m. inside Tiger Arena.
