COLUMBIA, S.C. – Corriana Evans had game-highs with 19 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Allen snapped the Panthers five-game win streak with a 70-60 win in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game.
Allen improves to 5-6 overall, 3-5 in the SIAC while Clark Atlanta is now 7-7 overall and 6-3 in conference.
Janiah Ellis added 12 points while
Denise Stine led the Panthers with four assists.
Clark Atlanta was 19 of 53 (35.8 percent) from the field while missing all 13 3-point field goal attempts.
The Panthers jumped out to an early 7-2 lead, but an 11-2 run gave Allen a 13-9 edge midway through the first quarter. The Yellowjackets led 20-16 after one quarter and 33-26 at halftime.
Clark Atlanta used a 9-2 run to start the second half and tie the game 35-35 with 7:04 left in the third quarter. Allen scored eight straight turning a 41-41 tie into a 49-41 lead with 1:21 left in the third and Clark trailed 51-42 after three. The Panthers would get a close as four several times in the fourth, but couldn't complete the comeback.
The Panthers are back in action on Saturday at home against Edward Waters in an SIAC game at 2:00.
