COLUMBIA, S.C. – Jalen Williams and Gwarren Douglas each had 17 points, but Clark Atlanta lost to Benedict 63-53 in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) game.
Benedict improves to 6-7 overall and 4-4 in league play while the Panthers drop to 2-12 overall and 1-7 in the SIAC.
Clark shot 42 percent (21-50) from the floor and connected on 3 of 13 from behind the arc.
Williams led the Panthers with six rebounds while Horace Wyatt III had a team best four assists.
Benedict jumped out to an 18-6 lead in the opening eight minutes and led 34-27 at the half. Benedict would score the first 11 points of the second half increasing its lead to 45-27 with 15:38 left.
Clark would get a close as 55-50 with 3:55 left following a dunk by Wyatt III, but Benedict closed the game with an 8-3 spurt.
The Panthers are back in action on Monday at Allen University in a SIAC game at 8:00..
