The Lady Panthers Place Three in Double Figures to Beat ASU 59-51

ATLANTA, Ga. | The Clark Atlanta women's basketball team placed three players in double figures on the way to a 59-51 win over the Albany State Golden Rams on Monday evening inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. With the win, Clark Atlanta improves to 11-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Corriana Evans got the Lady Panthers started with a layup to take a 2-0 less than a minute into the contest.
  • ASU responded with a 10-2 run to jump ahead 10-4 at the six-minute mark in the first quarter.
  • Trinity Jones and Corriana Evans combined for four quick points to cut the deficit to 10-9 a minute later.
  • The Lady Panthers ended the first quarter trailing 17-9.
  • CAU was able to put together a 4-3 run to get within a seven-point (20-13) striking distance with 6:18 left to play in the first half.
  • Janiah Ellis finished with nine first-half points but the Lady Panther trailed the Golden Rams 34-23 at halftime.
  • Hannah White put in four points to bring CAU within six midway through the third quarter.
  • Clark Atlanta closed the quarter out on an 11-7 run to trail 43-41 headed into the final quarter of regulation.
  • Deyanna McKinney knocked down a shot from downtown to give the Lady Panthers a 44-43 lead less than ten seconds into the fourth quarter.
  • The Lady Panthers were able to open up a 14-2 run that lasted until there was 3:45 left to play in regulation.
  • Hannah White sunk a dagger three-pointer to secure the 59-51 win over the Albany State Golden Rams.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • The Lady Panther placed three in double figures as they were led by Corriana Evans with 16 points, Janiah Ellis with 14 points, and Hannah White with 10 points.
  • Faith Bland led on the boards with six rebounds and seven points to add.
  • Janiah Ellis led the team in assists with a team-high four on the night.
  • Rose Smith registered her second-straight contest with a game-high five blocks.
  • Clark Atlanta scored 19 points off turnovers and 38 points in the paint.
  • The CAU reserves added 21 points in the win.
  • The Lady Panthers' largest lead was 11 points late in the fourth quarter.
