Wyatt III Game-High 19 Points Not Enough as CAU Falls to Albany State

ATLANTA, Ga. | Horace Wyatt III logged a game-high 19 points but the Clark Atlanta men's basketball team fell short to Albany State 65-58 on Monday night inside Epps Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Demetrius Headspeth and Dez'Mond Perkins combined for CAU's first eight points to give the Panthers an 8-6 advantage at the 15:14 mark in the first half.
  • Both teams traded scores until they were tied at 12 apiece with 11 minutes to play until halftime.
  • Gwarren Douglas threw down back-to-back dunks to put CAU back in front 16-12 with under 10 minutes left in the half.
  • ASU closed out the half on a 17-3 run to hold a 29-19 advantage going into halftime.
  • Albany State opened the second half with three made three-pointers to take a 38-25 lead just under two minutes into the half.
  • Clark Atlanta faced a deficit of as much as 14 points in the second half but was able to cut the margin to three points (55-52) with six minutes left in regulation.
  • ASU ended the game on a 10-6 and escaped with a 65-58 road win over Clark Atlanta.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Horace Wyatt III registered a game-high 19 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field, 8-of-12 from the foul line, and 1-of-1 from three-point land.
  • Dez'Mond Perkins added 13 points and tied for a team-high in rebounds with nine total.
  • Demetrius Headspeth contributed 11 points and nine rebounds. Headspeath also had two steals and two blocks on the defensive end.
  • Justin Longstreet and Kye Jeremiah handed out two assists apiece.
  • The Panthers shot 40 percent from the field, 11 percent from three, and 67.7 percent from the charity stripe.
