White and Jones Nab Double-Digit Performances to Propel the Lady Panthers to a Fourth Straight Win

ATLANTA, Ga. | Hannah White and Trinity Jones both logged double-digit performances to power the Clark Atlanta women's basketball team to a 58-44 win over the Fort Valley State Wildcats on Saturday afternoon inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. The win marks the fourth straight for Clark Atlanta.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
  • Corriana Evans scored Clark Atlanta's first three points to put the Lady Panthers in front 3-2 early in the first quarter.
  • Faith Bland chipped in a score followed by a three-pointer from Hannah White to put CAU back in front 8-6 with 5:26 left to play in quarter one.
  • White finished with five first-quarter points but Clark Atlanta headed into the second quarter down 13-12.
  • Both teams remained scoreless for half of the second quarter before CAU erupted for a 7-0 run to regain the lead at 19-13 over FVSU.
  • Janiah Ellis and Shawn Tate combined for five points to give the Panthers a nine-point lead with under two minutes until intermission.
  • The Lady Panthers went into the locker room with a 24-18 advantage over FVSU.
  • The Lady Wildcats were able to pull within four (24-20) at the 9:11 mark in the third frame. 
  • CAU's lead swelled to as much as 21 with 51 seconds left in the third before heading into the final period with a 47-28 lead.
  • Ellis put CAU back up by 21 points with a jumper just 10 seconds into the fourth.
  • FVSU was able to pull back within 12 points with 6:43 left in regulation.
  • Clark Atlanta held on to win 58-44 over the Fort Valley State Wildcats.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Hannah White nabbed a team-high 12 points and five rebounds. White shot 50 percent (2-4) from downtown.
  • Trinity Jones recorded 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the win.
  • Corriana Evans grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds with seven points to add to her stat line.
  • On the defensive end, Rose Smith swatted five blocks and grabbed four rebounds. 
  • Denise Stine and Hannah White led the way in assists with four apiece.
  • Clark Atlanta outrebounded FVSU 51-43. 
  • The Lady Panthers reserves outscored the Wildcats' bench 25-10.
  • CAU shot a game-high 50 percent from the field in the third frame followed by 45.45 percent from the field in the final quarter.
