The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers tennis team opened their season Saturday with a tough 6-0 loss at Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga.
The Lady Panthers (0-1) opened on the road for the non-conference contest against Georgia College (2-0), who had already opened their season with a victory over Valdosta State last week.
The day started out with an injury causing the doubles team of
Madison Moffatt and
Miyanda Wynn to forfeit their match to Emilia Richter and Emma Flemming. But
Shani Idlette and
Kristen Blount battled hard before losing a close match to Sofia Shing and Jordan Bowie 6-4.Â
Nicola Ramdyhan and
Shereese Henry pushed Chiara Santoro and Ashton Morrison hard before falling 6-4.
In singles, Moffatt fell to Shing 6-1, 6-0, while Richter defeated Idlette 6-0, 6-0. Blount fought hard but fell to Santoro 6-0, 6-3. Fleming defeated Ramdyhan 6-0, 6-1 and Henry fell to Bowie 6-0, 6-0.
The Lady Panthers are back on the court Thursday at 1 p.m. when they open the home portion of their season against Division I Atlanta neighbor, Georgia State at CAU Tennis Courts.
