The Clark Atlanta University Panthers will play their final home game of the season tonight when they host Fort Valley State in L.S. Epps Gymnasium at approximately 8 p.m.
The game begins after the CAU Lady Panthers take on Fort Valley State at 6 p.m. Both games can be viewed live at https://www.facebook.com/clarkatlantapanthers.
Clark Atlanta (11-13, 5-10 SIAC) have won three games in a row and are looking to keep the momentum going as they get ready for next week's Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament in Rock Hill, S.C. CAU is currently in fifth place in the SIAC East Division while Fort Valley State (5-18, 4-10 SIAC) is sixth.
The Panthers continue to be led by junior
Chris Martin who is averaging 19 points per game while also leading CAU in rebounds with 6.7 rebounds per game. Martin came off the bench Saturday to score 17 points in CAU's 76-72 victory over Edward Waters.
Jalen Williams, who led CAU in scoring with 25 points in that game, continues his strong freshman season with 15.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Justin Longstreet is averaging 11 points per game while
Shannon Smith is at just over nine points per contest.
They take on a Fort Valley State team that has lost five games in a row, with their last win coming on Jan. 31 against Benedict. CAU defeated FVSU 79-74 on Jan. 8. The Wildcats are led by K.J. Doucet and his 14.5 points per game. He is the only Wildcat scoring in double figures this season. He is also their co-leader in rebounding with 4.8 board per contest. Ty'Reek Johnson also averages 4.8 rebounds per game and is scoring 8.5 points per game. Pierre Mitchell is their third-leading scorer at 9.5 points per game
Tonight is also Senior Night as six Panthers who will play their final games in L.S. Epps Gymnasium - graduate student
Shannon Smith and seniors
Rodney Simon,
Shane Pearley,
Justin Longstreet,
Eric Reed, Jr., and Vernice Seriale III. A ceremony will be held for them - and Lady Panthers basketball seniors, along with seven senior Panthers cheerleaders - immediately following the Lady Panthers' game.
After tonight, the Panthers close out the regular season at LeMoyne-Owen on Thursday, Feb. 24.
