It's Round Two in the Battle of the Atlanta University Center as Clark Atlanta travels to Morehouse today to take on the Maroon Tigers at 1 p.m. in Forbes Arena.Â
Just two days ago, the Maroon Tigers (14-6, 10-2 SIAC) used a strong second half to down Clark Atlanta (8-12, 3-9 SIAC) 84-64 on Thursday night before a capacity crowd at L.S. Epps Gynmasium. It was game in wihch the Panthers suffered even bigger losses in injuries to guards
Chris Martin and
Kye Jeremiah.Â
But the Panthers still have a strong cast, led by
Jalen Williams, who is averaging 14.2 points and just over six rebounds a game for CAU.Â
Justin Longstreet is putting up 10.9 points per game while guard
Shannon Smith, who had a big 17-point first half Thursday before finishing with 23, is also having a strong season for CAU.Â
Morehouse, is led by Noah Morgan who had 17 points against CAU Thursday. Morgan is averaging 15.7 points per game for Morehouse, their only double-figure scorer. But the Maroon Tigers, with balanced scoring and strong rebounding have won eleven straight games. They are just behind Benedict in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference race while CAU is looking to jump ahead of fifth-place Fort Valley State.Â
After today's game, the Panthers will be on the road Monday when they visit Albany State at 7:30 p.m. Clark Atlanta returns home on Thursday, Feb. 17 when they host Savannah State at approximately 8 p.m. after the Lady Panthers host the Savannah State women.Â
