The Panthers (6-6) have seen four of their last five scheduled games postponed due to Covid protocols, but following a Dec. 18 win against Spring Hill and a Jan. 8 victory over Fort Valley State, CAU picked up another victory on Jan. 19 when they came from behind to defeat Edward Waters 83-82.
CAU continues to be led by guard
Chris Martin who is averaging 20 points per game, including two 30-plus point efforts during that win streak, and
Jalen Williams, who averages 14.5 points per game, including 21 in the Edward Waters win.
Albany State (6-13) is 3-3 in their last six games and are coming off a 67-63 loss at Fort Valley State Saturday. Malik Parker leads the Golden Rams in scoring with 20.2 points per game, including 18 points in the win over FVSU. Jordan Simpson averages a double-double so far this season with 15 points and 11 rebounds per game.
While the overall series the past ten years has seen both teams split 20 games, Albany State has won the last four meetings, grabbing a last second 63-62 win in February 2020.
