The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers tennis team earned two victories on the first day of their Mini Round Up with three other Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams Friday at CAU Tennis Courts.
Keynon Thompkins' thrilling 6-4, 7-5 victory in singles play lifted the Lady Panthers to a 4-3 victory over Spring Hill. CAU had already gotten doubles wins from the teams of
Miyanda Wynn and
Madison Moffatt (6-0) and Thompkins and
Shani Idlette (7-5), along with singles victories by Moffatt (6-2 6-2) and
Shereese Henry (6-3, 6-0).
It was the Lady Panthers' tenth consecutive win over Spring Hill dating back to March 2015.
Later in the day, Clark Atlanta continued their success over Savannah State, winning 7-0. In three previous matchups with the SSU, the Lady Panthers have won 7-0 each time.
Friday, got singles victories from
Nicola Ramdyhan (6-2, 6-3), Idlette (6-1, 6-1), Thompkins (6-0, 6-2), Moffatt (6-0, 6-0),
Saran Lloyd (6-0, 6-0), and Henry (6-0, 6-0). In doubles, Idlette and Thompkins won 6-0, while Wynn and Moffatt grabbed a 6-0 victory.
Saturday the Lady Panthers close out the Mini Round Up when they take on Albany State at 11:30 a.m.
