Corriana Evans led three players who scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as Clark Atlanta fell to Lane College 71-58 Saturday in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
Clark Atlanta (2-6, 2-1 SIAC) had won their previous two games but Lane (4-2, 1-1 SIAC) held the Lady Panthers to just single figures in field goal completions in each quarter Saturday.  CAU forced 29 Lane turnovers, but only shot 34 percent from the field and hit just two 3-pointers.
Neither team could get it going offensively in the first quarter as Lane's Kayla Simmons tied the game at 10-10 with a jumper 1:47 left in the period.Â
Denise Stine's basket with 7:50 left in the second quarter pulled CAU to within two at 14-12, but the Dragons grew that lead to ten after Mia Moore's shot made it 23-13 with 4:18 left before halftime.
Lane led 34-24 at the break and led by as many as 14 late in the third quarter after a Brailyn Tate basket. Â CAU only had seven field goals during the period, but that was more than Lane could muster as they only had six baskets.
The Lady Panthers pulled back into it in the fourth when they used an 11-6 run over the first 5:45 in the period to close the deficit to 56-53 on
Kaia Barnett's layup. But CAU missed five straight shots over the next two minutes while baskets by Tate and Lane's Kayla Simmons helped the Dragons to pull their lead back out to ten with 2:33 left and maintain the lead until the end.
Evans led CAU with 18 points and nine rebounds, while
Reagan Jackson had 12 points, three assists and two steals. Barnett finished with 11 points and two rebounds,
Autum Morings had 8 points, one rebound and two steals, and Stine had four points, four rebounds and two steals.
Maegan Barkley had four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Tate, Takesia Barnes, and Jordyn Neal each had 13 points for Lane. Itasha Paty had 11 points and ten rebounds and Simmons added 10 points and 12 boards.
The Lady Panthers are back on the floor Tuesday when they go to Atlanta's Southside to take on Clayton State University at 5 p.m. They return to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Thursday, Dec. 9 when they face Miles at 6 p.m.
