The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers tennis team picked up two big wins during this past weekend's rain-shortened Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Roundup in Fort Valley, Ga.
The Lady Panthers (3-0) were scheduled to play six matches during the three-day tournament. But rained only allowed CAU to play two matches, one against Albany State and the other against Lane.
Against Albany State,
Madison Majors and
Alexis Fletcher each had singles and doubles wins to lead the Lady Panthers to a 6-0 win over ASU.
Majors teamed up with
Nicola Ramdyhan to defeat ASU's LaToya Boyd and Ana Maria Forero 6-1 in doubles and then defeated Jordan Foston 6-1, 6-0 in singles. Fletcher and
Akilah Parker beat Foston and Alani Gauthier 6-1 in doubles play. Fletcher then picked a singles win over Gauthier 6-1, 6-2.Â
Vanessa Eusebio also had a singles victory, defeating Boyd 6-2, 6-3.
Against Lane, the Lady Panthers didn't drop a single game in doubles or singles play, defeating the Lady Dragons 4-0.Â
Majors,
Saran Lloyd, Eusebio and Ramdyhan each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Ramdyan and Lloyd, Majors and Eusebio, and
Vivian Moultrie and
Keyvona Moultrie all won their matches 6-0.
The Lady Panthers next venture to Oxford, Ga., on at noon on Saturday, March 2 to take on Oxford College of Emory University.  They return home to CAU Courts to on Wednesday, March 6 to host Alabama-Huntsville at 3 p.m.
