A strong second half against the nation's 15
th ranked team, the University of North Georgia, wasn't enough as the Clark Atlanta Lady Panthers fell to the Nighthawks 76-53 Wednesday at L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
Clark Atlanta (2-5, 1-0 SIAC) trailed North Georgia (7-1) 41-14 at halftime after hitting only four baskets in the first two quarters. UNG's Imani Arnold had the hot hand for the Nighthawks, hitting 4-of-7 shots for 12 points in the half.
But the Lady Panthers'
Lakashia Hill and
Reyana Miller heated up in the third quarter, as Hill had three baskets and Miller had nine points as CAU outscored North Georgia 20-16 in the quarter to make the score after three periods 57-34.
Reagan Jackson then came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 11 points as the Lady Panthers matched North Georgia with 19 fourth-quarter points.
Jackson finished with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists, while Hill also had 14 points along with five rebounds. Miller finished with 11 points and four assists.
Jalisa Jones had eight points and six rebounds.
Arnold led North Georgia with 22 points while Julianne Sutton had 13.
The Lady Panthers are back in action on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they visit the University of West Georgia at noon. They have a quick turnaround as they then head to Alabama to take on Jacksonville State on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. central time. That game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
