Reagan Jackson's 17 points led four Lady Panthers in double figures, but Clark Atlanta dropped an out-of-conference road contest at Johnson C. Smith University, 78-63.
Clark Atlanta (2-12, 1-4 SIAC) fell behind early as Johnson C. Smith (4-7) got out to a 10-point lead in the first quarter after Le'Zarea Bowens' free throw just before the end of the quarter made it 21-11.
That lead climbed to twelve early in the second quarter, but the Lady Panthers got back into it. Jackson's 3-pointer capped a 13-2 CAU run that had pulled the Lady Panthers to within one at 31-30 with 4:22 left in the half.
After going into the break behind just three at 39-36,
LaJoyous Boose tipped a shot in to give CAU their first lead at 40-39 early in the third quarter. But over the next eight minutes, Johnson C. Smith went on their own run, outscoring CAU 27-6 to retake the lead and end the quarter up 62-46. The Golden Bulls controlled the game the rest of the way after that.
Jackson finished with 17 points, three rebounds and four assists for CAU, with Boose (12 points, three rebounds and an assist) and
Jamila Mitchell (12 points, five rebounds and two assists) both contributing a dozen points.
Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell added ten points, three rebounds and four assists.
Teana Lewis led Johnson C. Smith with 17 points.
