Lady Panthers Win Third Straight, Defeating FVSU 69-53

Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell led three Lady Panthers in double figures as Clark Atlanta University won their third straight, defeating Fort Valley State University 69-53 in L. S. Epps Gymnasium.

Clark Atlanta (5-15, 4-7 SIAC) is now 3-1 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division and sits in third behind Albany State and Benedict.  It's the first three-game win streak for the Lady Panthers since their conference tournament title-winning run in the SIAC Tournament last Spring.

Fort Valley State falls to 3-14, 3-6 in conference play.

The Lady Panthers only trailed once, 2-0 after FVSU's Alicia Franklin hit the game's first basket.  CAU led 17-16 after the first quarter, but opened up a six-point lead at halftime to go up 32-26 after I'Nayah Moore's jumper just before the break.

That lead grew to 11 after LaJoyous Boose's two free throws made it 51-40 just before the end of the third quarter.  They led by as many as 20 points in the fourth quarter as they kept control of the game and took the win.

Mitchell led CAU with 19 points, grabbed six rebounds and had a steal and a block.  Reyana Miller finished with 14 points, three rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, while Reagan Jackson added 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.  I'Nayah Moore had seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Nola Carter led Fort Valley State with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Clark Atlanta returns to the court on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. when they host Carver College in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.  Their game will be followed by the CAU men's game with Morehouse College at 6 p.m.  General admission tickets are $15.
