Jackson’s Career-High 30 Leads CAU Over Paine, 77-64

Reagan Jackson followed up her biggest game as a Lady Panther this past weekend with an even better game Monday night as Clark Atlanta defeated Paine College 77-64 in Augusta, Ga.

Jackson, a freshman from Chesapeake, Va., erupted for 30 points, 19 of them in the first half, for Clark Atlanta (3-15, 2-7 SIAC).  Two days ago, she had 26 points in the Lady Panthers' close loss to Benedict.

Paine (1-14, 1-7 SIAC) got out to an early lead and kept things close through most of the first quarter.  Keondra Archie's two free throws kept things close for Paine at 15-14 with 3:29 remaining in the quarter.  But the Lady Panthers went on an 8-0 run to open a nine-point lead on Jackson's two free throws just over a minute left in the quarter.

That lead grew to 16 points at halftime after Jackson's jumper made it 42-26 at the break.

Clark Atlanta controlled the third quarter, leading by as many as 24 points.  Paine managed to cut the lead to seven when Antonisha Davis' free throw with 6:58 remaining made it 63-56.

But Reyana Miller had a layup, followed by a 3-pointer that put the lead back into double figures, and the Lady Panthers coasted from there for the win.

Jackson finished with 30 points on 8-of-21 shooting, including four 3-pointers, along with five rebounds, four assists and a steal.  Miller also had a big night with 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals.  Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell had 11 points, three rebounds and a steal, while I'Nayah Moore grabbed ten rebounds.  Jalisa Jones finished with seven points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Davis led Paine with 24 points.

The Lady Panthers are back in action Saturday, Jan. 19 when they return to L.S. Epps Gymnasium to host Albany State University.  Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
