The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers softball team is back on the diamond this weekend when they host Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division foe Benedict College Saturday and Sunday at Lady Panthers Softball Field.
The Lady Panthers are looking to begin their climb up the East Division standings, where CAU, at 2-5 in East Division play, is tied for fourth place with Fort Valley State. Benedict is in third with a 3-4 division record.
Clark Atlanta is led by
Tatianna Kelly, who is batting .349 this season with 15 hits – six of them doubles – and two home runs.
Jacey Gray is hitting .319 with 15 hits and nine stolen bases.
Shalonda Woods has ten hits this season, while also striking out 18 as one of head coach
Lawanda Pearson's key pitchers.
Ajada Cofield leads the Lady Panthers on the mound with more 47 innings pitched, striking out 26 batters.
The face a tough Benedict team that leads the conference in hitting at a .384 clip., is second in hits with 223, and third in home runs with 13.
Saturday's doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. while Sunday's game begins at 2 p.m.
