In one of the most highly anticipated matchups between metro Atlanta colleges and universities in decades, the Clark Atlanta University Panthers will host Morehouse College tonight at 7:30 p.m. in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
A capacity crowd is expected for the match-up between Atlanta University Center rivals. For the first time ever, both teams enter the game nationally ranked – Clark Atlanta (20-2) is ranked 16
th in the country while Morehouse (20-1) is 11
th.
More importantly, the winner takes sole possession of first place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's East Division. The two teams are tied for first with 14-1 records.  Clark Atlanta has won two of the last three matchups between the schools, winning last year's game at CAU 71-66, losing at Morehouse 86-58, and defeating Morehouse 91-86 in the SIAC Tournament.
It's a battle between the SIAC's two top offenses – Morehouse is first, averaging 84.7 points per game while Clark Atlanta scores 80.3 per gameÂ
Morehouse is led by the conference's leading scorer, Tyrius Walker who averages 25.9 points per game. He posted the SIAC's top scoring game, 47 against Benedict on Jan. 22.
But along with being one of the top scoring teams, Clark Atlanta features the SIAC's top scoring defense, only giving up 67.3 points per game. Morehouse is eighth (71.7 ppg) in scoring defense.
CAU has three players who average double figures in scoring –
Akil Douglas at 13.3 points per game,
Jamal Pollydore (11.4 ppg) and
Shelvick Henry Jr. (11.1 ppg).Â
Jalen Mitchell and
Damien Davis average just over nine points a contest, while
Anthony Williams scores 8.6 per game and is one of the SIAC's leaders in assists. He also leads the SIAC in assist-to-turnover ratio.
