The nationally ranked Clark Atlanta University Panthers head to South Carolina for the second-game of a tough three-game road trip today when they face Benedict at 3 p.m.
The Panthers are riding a 14-game winning streak and are 19-1 overall this season after defeating Paine College Monday. Clark Atlanta, ranked 21
st in the country, owns the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's best record at 13-0, putting them in first place in the SIAC East Division.
The Panthers defeated Benedict in a tight game at L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Jan. 20, getting a big block and 3-pointer from
Akil Douglas and a basket and two big free throws from
Anthony Williams to hold off Benedict 78-75.
Benedict is 17-5 overall this season, 10-4 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers lost two straight on the road – to CAU and then Morehouse in overtime – but has since defeated Albany State and Fort Valley State at home. This will be the third of a six-game homestand for Benedict.
But Clark Atlanta is the only team in the SIAC in the top three in scoring offense (3
rd at 82 points per game) and scoring defense (2
nd allowing only 69 points per game).
