Nailah-Mawusi Mitchell led the Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers with 15 points, but CAU fell on the road to Central State 88-57 Saturday.
Clark Atlanta (1-9, 0-3 SIAC) was down by ten twice in the first quarter, but ended the quarter on an 8-2 run to pull within four of Central State (4-7, 2-3 SIAC) at 16-12 after a Mitchell free throw.Â
Reyana Miller had four free throws during that run, with Mitchell adding a 3-pointer and a free throw.
Central State countered with a 12-0 run over the first half of the second quarter to take a 28-12 lead. The Lady Marauders kept the lead in double figures, leading 38-26, in ending the half.  The Lady Marauders kept things the same in the second half in taking the win.
Central State won the rebounding battle 51-44 and forced 34 Lady Panthers turnovers.
Mitchell finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and an assist, while
Jamila Mitchell added ten points, nine rebounds and an assist. Miller finished with nine points, four rebounds and two assists, and
Reagan Jackson added nine points, two rebounds and three assists.Â
Jalisa Jones and I'Nayah Moore each had eight rebounds for the Lady Panthers.
Central State was led by Chervelle Cox who had 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Panthers continue their three-game road swing when they visit Kentucky State on Monday at 3 p.m. in Lexington, Ky. The Lady Panthers will go to West Georgia on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m. before returning to L.S. Epps Gymnasium on Monday, Dec. 31 when they host Spring Hill at 1 p.m.
