Jalen Mitchell poured in 18 points while
Shelvick Henry added 16, but Clark Atlanta fell to Alabama-Huntsville 78-64 Tuesday in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
In the home opener for the Panthers, which was also the home debut for new CAU head coach
George Lynch, CAU (1-4) fell behind Alabama-Huntsville (3-1) early, trailing 16-6 five-and-a-half minutes into the game.
Mitchell's two free throw with 7:08 left in the first half completed a 10-5 CAU run over that span that cut the lead in half at five.  But suffering through a tough shooting half, CAU couldn't cut the lead any more during the half, trailing 33-24 at the break. The Panthers only hit 29 percent of their shots in the first half and was just 2-of-11 on 3-point shots.  UAH hit seven 3-pointers in the first half.
UAH continued their hot shooting in the second half, connecting on nearly 59 percent of their shots along with five more 3-pointers to lead by as many as 23 points. Seth Swalve hit all three of his 3-point attempts for the Chargers in the half as UAH took the win.
Mitchell finished with 18 points and a team-high six rebounds for CAU. Henry had 16 points, four rebounds, an assist and two steals.
