Reyana Miller scored a game-high 22 points but Clark Atlanta fell to St. Augustine's 72-56 in the Shaw University Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., Saturday.
Clark Atlanta (0-4) was down by as many as 25 points, but after a sluggish first half, the Lady Panthers outscored St. Augustine's (1-2) 39-33 in the second half. After hitting only four field goals in the first half, the Lady Panthers offense came to life, hitting 14 shots, including six 3-pointers.
Miller, a junior guard from Rialto, Calif., was 8-of-20 from the floor, hitting three 3-pointers, along with grabbing four rebounds and dishing out four assists. Miller scored 17 of her 22 points in the second half during the Lady Panthers' offensive burst.
Reagan Jackson scored all ten of her points during the second half. She hit two baskets from beyond the arc and added two rebounds. Senior I'Nayah Moore had a big day on the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds.
Delani Grayer had eight points and four rebounds, while
Jazmin Smith and
Zakiyia Holt both had five points.
Kiana Clark led St. Augustine's with 19 points.
The Lady Panthers now get ready for their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 20 when they host Lee University at 6 p.m. in L.S. Epps Gymnasium. CAU then hosts Miles College on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m., and Tuskegee University Monday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. Admission is free for Lady Panthers basketball games.
