The Clark Atlanta University Panthers will put their 13-game winning streak on the line tonight in Augusta, Ga., when they visit Paine College at 7:30 p.m. EST.
CAU, ranked 22
nd in the country by D2SIDA, is 18-1, 12-0 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Panthers are in second place in the SIAC East Division, just behind Morehouse who is 13-0 in conference play.
The Panthers defeated Paine 71-52 on Nov. 30. In that game,
Jalen Mitchell led four CAU scorers in double figures with 17 points.
Phillip Garner had a big game for Paine that day, hitting five three-pointers and finishing with 19 points.
Paine (4-15, 3-9 SIAC) has been led this season by Babe Murphy who averages 13 points per game.
But Clark Atlanta has used balanced scoring and strong defense to remain undefeated in conference play. The Panthers have the SIAC's third-highest scoring team and the conference's second-best scoring defense.
Akil Douglas leads four Panthers who average double-figures in scoring with 13.2 points per game.
After tonight, CAU is on the road at Benedict on Saturday, Feb. 3 and at Claflin on Monday, Feb. 5.
