Box Score The Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers snapped a two-game losing streak by knocking off Fort Valley State University on the road, 60-53 Monday.
The Lady Panthers regained a share of first place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference East Division as their conference record climbs to 8-2. CAU is 10-7 overall.   Fort Valley State falls to 2-17, 2-9 in conference play.
CAU led by as many as 11 points – 17-6 with 9:18 left – in the first half after a 
Lauren Turner free throw. But FVSU roared back, taking the lead five minutes later on a Alicia Franklin free throw, giving them a 21-19 lead.  The Lady Panthers finished the half on a 7-2 run to regain the lead heading into the break.
The Lady Panthers extended that lead to 17 heading into the fourth quarter after 
Jonae Lee's basket put CAU ahead 47-30.
The Lady Wildcats eventually whittled that lead down to four with 17 seconds left.  But 
Kiyanna Johnson hit a free throw and Turner knocked down two to seal the win.
Johnson led the Lady Panthers with 18 points, three rebounds, and three steals, while 
Naomi Holloway finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Turner had eight points, six boards, an assist and a steal. 
Marissa Mandeldove grabbed 11 rebounds, scored seven points, made four assists and five steals.
Nola Carter led Fort Valley State with 14 points.
The Lady Panthers return home Saturday, Jan. 20 when they host Benedict College (5-13, 5-5 SIAC) at 2 p.m. in L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
