The Clark Atlanta University Panthers will put their nine-game winning streak on the line today when they visit Albany State University at 4 p.m. in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.
CAU, 14-1 overall and 8-0 in the SIAC, takes on an Albany State team that is going through a tough season as they are 1-14 overall and 1-6 in conference play. But this time last season, the Panthers went down to Albany State and were defeated 77-75.
This season, the Panthers bring to Albany the conference's third-best scoring offense and second-best scoring defense. Four players –
Akil Douglas (14.2 points per game),
Austin Donaldson (11.7 ppg), Shelvick Henry (10.5 ppg) and
Jamal Pollydore (10.3 ppg) – score in double-figures for head coach
Darrell Walker's squad. Douglas is among the SIAC's top 10 rebounders, Donaldson leads the SIAC in steals and is fourth in assists, while
Anthony Williams continues to lead the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Albany State is led by Rahdin Hughes (11.9 points per game) and Michael Green (11 points per game).Â
