ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta men's basketball got revenge for the loss last week at Albany State by defeating the Golden Rams in overtime; 81-79. The tenth victory of the season eclipses last season's total and is the most since the 2013-2014 team won 15 games.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
First Half | After spotting Albany State the early 5-0 lead, Clark Atlanta embarked on an 11-0 run spurred by a
Derek Harper 3-pointer ahead of a
Lawrance Triplett 3 and baskets by
Damien Davis and
Tajai Johnson. A 14-0 run by Albany State from 14:25 - 10:41 gave the visiting team the 21-16 lead. CAU fought back to tie the game as
Anthony Williams completed the three-point-play ahead of Harper converting two from the FT line. ASU would extend the lead to five points twice and closed the half on a 9-2 run to lead at the intermission 43-38.

Williams (11) and Harper (10) each scored double-digits in the opening half when CAU shot 12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from the floor including 4-for-10 from 3-point range.

Second Half | Derek Harper grabbed the offensive rebound and the ensuing layup was the first points in the second half for Clark Atlanta after Albany State opened the half on a 10-0 run (ASU went on a 19-2 run overlapping the halves). Triplett was good on a 3-pointer from the corner ahead of the shot clock to cut the deficit to 57-43 with 14:00 remaining in the game. Harper added back-to-back jumpers before CAU embarked on a 13-0 run that started with a 3-pointer from
Chuka Eneh and had 3's later in the run from Eneh and Harper. After a FT from ASU, Eneh added his third 3-pointer of the game to cap a 16-1 run that gave the lead back to Clark Atlanta; 63-62. Davis went 2-for-2 from the FT line after a pair were made by Albany State to keep the lead at one point for CAU; 65-64. With 3:58 left in the game Davis made 1-of-2 from the FT line  to give CAU the 66-65 lead. Williams was good from the FT on a pair before ASU tied the game, 68-68, on a 3-pointerwith just 2:37 left to play.

The half ended tied, 70-70, as the final points were scored by Triplett going 2-for-2 from the FT line.

Overtime | Williams scored and early layup to start overtime before Triplett add another pair from the FT line giving CAU the 74-72 lead. Â Albany State tied the game on a jumper before Triplett added another basket to give the Panthers the 76-74 lead before ASU took the lead on a 3-pointer on the next trip down the court. Williams made the first from the FT line to tie the game, 77-77, with 1:50 left. Triplett forced a turnover and made the long pass to Harper for the layup on the fast break. Albany State responded with a jumper tying the game, 79-79, with 43 seconds remaining.

Williams forced ASU into a turnover and picked up the steal with five seconds on the clock, he was immediately fouled by the Golden Rams. With the game tied, Williams went 2-for-2 from the FT line. ASU got off a last second 3-point attempt that was no good.

CAU went 3-for-5 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the FT line in the overtime period.
TEAM NUMBERS:
This was the third overtime game for the Panthers. CAU is now 2-1 in OT.

Clark Atlanta trailed the in-game stats in points off turnovers, 22-17, second chance scoring, 19-15, bench scoring, 40-11, and points in the paint, 26-16.

Clark Atlanta shot 24-for-62 (38.7 percent) from the floor and 24-for-34 (70.6 percent) from the FT line while making 9-of-24 from 3-point range.

CAU forced 14 ASU turnovers that were converted into 17 points.
INDIVIDUAL NUMBERS:
Harper scored a game-high 23 points. Williams (18) and Triplett (17) also score in double digits.

Triplett recorded nine rebounds for the team high while Williams tied for the game high with seven assists.

Clark Atlanta will head to Spring Hill on Jan. 19 before returning home to host Fort Valley State on Jan. 26 at 8:00 p.m. from L.S. Epps Gymnasium.
