HOW IT HAPPENED:
After being tied in the opening set, 2-2, Oglethorpe ran out to a 15-9 lead. A Clark Atlanta rally tied the set at 15-15 before OU would score 10 of the final 14 points.
The second set was tied, 18-18, before the Stormy Petrels scored four consecutive points. Three CAU points were scored in response to move the score to 22-21 in favor of the visiting team. The squads would swap points for the next five serves with the set victory being recorded by OU.
Clark Atlanta led early in the third set, 7-5, before a 6-0 run put Oglethorpe ahead, 11-7. A late CAU rally closed the gap to 16-14, but the Panthers were unable to regain the lead in losing the final set of the match.
THE NUMBERS:
Oglethorpe hit .204 in the match compared to .070 for Clark Atlanta.
Taylor Prude (12) and
Sierra Scoggins (10) were the only members of either team to tally double-digit kills. For Prude, this is her fourth such match in the last six while Scoggins has seven on the season.
Kiara Govan posted a match-high 28 assists with
Dariyan Stallings registering 15 digs for the team-high.
