TUSKEGEE, Ala. - Clark Atlanta men's basketball trailed by just three points at halftime before 21-3 run midway through the second half distanced Tuskegee for the 84-72 victory. In the losing effort for Clark Atlanta,
David Basil tallied his first double-double of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Clark Atlanta rebounded from a 5-0 deficit to open the game with a 12-0 run featuring
Tim Sanders (four),
James Arnold (three),
Derek Harper (three), and
David Basil (two) scoring for the Panthers.

CAU would lead until 10:29 left in the first half when a 3-pointer from TU put the home team ahead; 16-14.

Clark Atlanta cut the lead to three points just before the intermission when
Lawrance Freeman made two from the FT line to end the scoring in the first 20 minutes with CAU trailing 39-36.

Basil scored the first points of the second half Sanders gave the Panthers the lead, 40-39, after making both FT attempts with 19:05 remaining in the game.

The lead was extended by Basil from the FT line before Tuskegee tied the game; 41-41. The lead would flip flop between the teams with a layup from Sanders putting CAU ahead with 13:33 left in the game; 50-48.

Tuskegee retook the lead from the FT line seconds later and CAU would trail for the remainder of the game. TU ran off a 21-3 run to jump ahead by 17 points; 52-69.

A 10-2 run culminating with a Sanders 3-pointer with 6:05 remaining brought the Panthers within nine points; 71-62.

With the lead moved to 19 points late, a 8-0 CAU run was not enough.
THE NUMBERS:Clark Atlanta shot 41.3 percent (19-for-46) from the floor including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. The Panthers went 31-for-38 (81.6 percent) from the FT line.

CAU won the battle of the rebounding, 37-24, and second chance scoring, 10-5.

Clark Atlanta scored 15 points off 15 Tuskegee turnovers.

Basil had his first double-digit rebounding game with a game-high 13. He added 13 points for his first double-double of the season.

Harper (20) and Sanders (17) also reached double-digits in points. Sanders added four more steals to his season total, he entered the game averaging 2.8 steals/game - No. 5 in Division II.
UP NEXT:Clark Atlanta will play the final two home games this season in the next few days with Morehouse visiting on Feb. 13 and Paine set to visit on Senior Day on Feb. 15. The season will conclude on the road at Benedict and Claflin.
