AUGUSTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta women's basketball was held scoreless in the final 2:22 at Paine to suffer the 59-55 defeat. Clark Atlanta managed to score just nine points in the final quarter after leading by four entering the fourth quarter.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Mykala Jones opened the game scoring with a layup after the 1:25 had been played.

Brandie Robertson tied the game, 9-9, with 5:56 remaining in the first quarter. CAU closed the quarter with a 9-4 run including a Jones 3-pointer, a jumper from
Nekia Sockwell,
Siera Bubb made a pair from the FT line, and a layup from
Whitney Collins.

CAU built a 10-point lead in the second quarter after Sockwell knocked down a 3-pointer, 31-21, with 4:19 left before halftime.

Paine ended the half with a 11-1 run to send the game into halftime tied, 32-32.

Jones scored on two from the FT line after Paine scored the opening four points of the third quarter.

Sockwell retook the lead for Clark Atlanta, 44-43, on a jumper with the assist to Jones with 1:55 left in the third quarter.

After Paine tied the game,
Naquaisha Rattray gave the Panthers the 46-44 lead heading into the final quarter.
Collins gave CAU a six-point advantage, 50-44, with 6:52 to play in the game after making one from the FT line.

After Paine was able to capture the lead, 51-50, a 3-pointer from
Gia Banks gave Clark Atlanta the final lead of the game.

After Paine made back-to-back layups to take the lead, CAU was able to tie the game for the final time as Jones was good on a jumper; 55-55.

The Panthers were held scoreless from that point until time expired.
THE NUMBERS:Clark Atlanta shot 21-for-67 (31.3 percent) from the floor, including 4-for-12 from 3-point range. CAU also went 9-for-15 from the FT line.

Paine committed 12 turnovers that Clark Atlanta converted into 10 points.

The Panthers held the advantage in second chance scoring, 16-8.

Clark Atlanta trailed in points off turnovers, 14-10, bench scoring, 20-19, and points in the paint, 22-20.

Jones and Banks scored 13 points apiece to tie for the team-high. Jones was 4-for-16 while Banks shot 5-for-12, including 3-for-5 from 3-point range.

Collins had a game-high 10 rebounds to tie her season high.

Sockwell dished a team-high three assists while Robertson and Bubb each tallied a team-high two assists.
