ROME, Ga. – Kiyanna Johnson and
Marissa Mandeldove went on an offensive tear tonight. Both shooting 7-16 (an impressive 43.8% from the field), propelling the Clark Atlanta Panthers to their first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Kiyanna Johnson opens the game with a 3-pointer with six seconds into the first quarter.
An early 8-0 run gave Shorter the early advantage. (18-11)
The Panthers mount a ferocious comeback, and take the lead with another 3-pointer by Johnson. (27-26)
Lauren Turner knocks down a jumper to allow the Panthers another lead. The 16
th lead change at this point.
Taylor Adams goes 1-2 at the line for the Lady Hawks' 7
th free throw miss. (Lady Hawks FT: 13-20)
Mandeldove races down the court for a quick strike. It turns into an exciting and-1 opportunity. (17 points) (52-48 Clark Atlanta Leads)
Johnson gets open at the top of the key, and quiets the crowd with a 3. Mandeldove hits both FT and extends Clark Atlanta to their biggest lead of the night. (59-52)
The Panther defense swiftly applies the pressure and cause a late turnover by Raven Fair with 56 seconds left in the game. (64-56)
The difference in the game was an 11-0 run beginning with a Mandeldove FT, and ending with a Johnson 3 pointer. Johnson ended with 6 3-pointers.
THE NUMBERS:
Clark Atlanta held the advantage in bench points, 9, second chance points, 14, and more offensive rebounds, 14.
The Panthers shot 22-for-61 (36.1 percent) from the floor and 17-of-27 (63 percent) on FT attempts. CAU shot a modest 34.8 % from beyond the arc.
Johnson (24) and Mandeldove (23) were the only Panthers to score in double digits. Both leading Clark Atlanta in steals with 5 (Mandeldove) and rebounds with 7 (Johnson).
A stingy Panthers defense boasts stats of 11 steals and 17 points off turnover.
