Clark Atlanta Runs Win Streak to Three with 77-59 Home Victory Versus LeMoyne-Owen

ATLANTA, Ga. - Clark Atlanta continued the recent winning streak with a 77-59 home win versus LeMoyne-Owen College.  The Panthers have answered an early-season losing streak of nine games with three consecutive wins.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Naquaisha Rattray scored the first two points for Clark Atlanta, at the FT line, to tie the game 2-2 with 8:54 left in the opening quarter.
 
Mykala Jones later add a 3-pointer to tie the game, 7-7, off the Gia Banks assist with 4:38 remaining in the first quarter.
 
Brandie Robertson put the Panthers ahead for the first time, 11-9, with a jumper with just under two minutes on the clock.
 
Siera Bubb added a jumper before a late 3-pointer by the Lady Magicians cut the Panther lead to 13-12 after the opening ten minutes expired.
 
The lead went back-and-forth and extended to no more than four points when LOC tied the game, 24-24, with 3:20 left in the first half.
 
Clark Atlanta closed the half on a 10-0 run. During the run, Jones scored all the points including a pair of 3-pointers.
 
During the third quarter, Clark Atlanta had a lead as large as 15 points while outscoring LeMoyne-Owen, 17-16.
 
The Lady Magicians trimmed the lead to eight points mid-way through the fourth quarter.  Jones answered the run with a layup and FT to complete a three-point play before a 3-pointer on the next possession.
 
After LOC missed jumper, the bench was assessed a pair of technical fouls.  Jones stepped to the FT line and went 4-for-4 to run the lead to 18 points, 71-53.
 
The home lead was as much as 22 points in the final minute before LeMoyne-Owen scored the final four points.

THE NUMBERS:
Jones eclipsed 30 points for the second time this season with a game-high 33 points.  Jones previously scored 35 points vs. Florida Southern on Nov. 14. The senior from Augusta, Ga. went 10-for-22 from the floor with four made 3-pointers.  She added to her point total with a 9-for-11 effort from the FT line.
 
Bubb added her second 20+ rebound performance in as many games.  Bubb scored 14 points, 7-for-15 from the floor, and pulled in a season-high 22 rebounds.  Her 22 rebounds ties for the season-high in the SIAC this season.
 
Rattray and Nekia Sockwell each scored eight points.  Rattray added seven rebounds while Sockwell contributed six rebounds and eight assists.  Sockwell's assist count sets a new season-high for CAU.
 
Banks and Robertson each scored seven points off the bench for the entire Panther total from the reserves.
 
Clark Atlanta held advantages in second chance points, 16-4, points in the paint, 18-14, and fast break points, 18-16.

CAU shot 28-for-74 (37.8 percent) from the floor and went 17-for-21 (81 percent) from the FT line.

UP NEXT:
Clark Atlanta travels to Central State and Kentucky State this upcoming weekend, and will play Albany State on the road before returning to Epps Gymnasium on Jan. 18 versus Spring Hill College.
