ATLANTA, Ga. - A cold night of shooting from the floor hurt the Clark Atlanta women's basketball team in the home game versus Benedict College, 77-48. The Panthers shot as season-worst 21.7 percent and made a season-low 13 field goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Benedict scored the first three points of the contest before a
Mykala Jones FT put Clark Atlanta on the board, 3-1, with 7:56 remaining in the first quarter.
Jones added two more from the FT line, 7-3, with 4:54 left in the opening ten minutes.
Benedict utilized an 8-0 run before
Gia Banks scored one from the FT line, 15-4. The first quarter expired with Benedict leading 22-9 with all nine Panther points coming from the FT line.
Kiyanna Johnson made the first field goal for Clark Atlanta in the second quarter, 22-12, with 9:06 remaining in the half.
A 10-2 run by Clark Atlanta pulled the Panthers within eight points, 22-14, with 8:34 to play until halftime.
Benedict closed the half on a 17-6 run to lead at the intermission, 39-20.
Clark Atlanta would be outscored in the third quarter, 22-14, and fourth quarter, 16-14. Twice in the third quarter Benedict was able to establish a game-high 32-point advantage. With 24 points being the closest the Panthers would draw in the fourth quarter.
THE NUMBERS:Clark Atlanta shot 13-for-60 (21.7 percent) and made just 2-of-13 form 3-point range. The Panthers added a 20-for-35 effort from the FT line.
Benedict shot 28-for-76 (36.8 percent) and made eight 3-pointers in the game.
The Panthers converted 17 Lady Tiger turnovers into 14 points.
CAU trailed in second chance points, 14-9, bench scoring, 51-11, points in the paint, 14-4, and fast break scoring, 12-2.
Nekia Sockwell and Jones scored 10 points each for the team-high. Sockwell tied for the game-high with four assists.
Whitney Collins led the Panthers with eight rebounds. Collins and
Naquaisha Rattray each tallied two steals to tie for the high mark in the game.
UP NEXT:Clark Atlanta women's basketball has just two more home dates, Feb. 4 versus Claflin and Feb. 15 versus Paine, but will first travel to Paine College on Feb.1 for a 5:30 p.m. start time.
